What is Ethnic Studies?
Ethnic Studies is the study of the true histories, lived experiences, contributions, and knowledge of People of Color; specifically, Indigenous, Black, Pacific Islander, Asian/Desi/Arab, and Chicanx/Latine/Latinx communities are taught and honored with a focus on anti-racism and intersectional identities. |
What is the purpose of Ethnic Studies?
Ethnic Studies is meant to educate all students about the full range of experiences, perspectives, contributions, knowledges, and experiences of People of Color that have been left out of the curriculum in order to foster greater understanding and eliminate racism. Ethnic Studies is community-responsive, which means that it seeks to educate students about their communities in support of their communities. In seeking equity for all, students will work collaboratively to take action in our communities to eradicate all forms of oppression. |
